I am affraid to say this, but sergery is your only real option here. You can try some of those braces that hold your hand straight, but its only a short term help item, which doesn't really help much at all. Check with your health care provider to see how much of the cost of an operation it will cover. The longer you let this conditon manifest itself, the more damage you will be doing to your nerves.

Having had surgery for carpal tunnel I can tell you that its not fun and if you talk to others you will probably find that they still have problems.

Yes getting a brace to wear at night might help but there are other things to do too.....massage therapy, B12, and looking at what you are doing that is causing the problem and seeing if there is a different way to do things so as not to cause the swelling in the first place. Anti~inflamitories, and physical therapy often help with the problem too.

Seeing a doctor is a good thing, but dont rush right out and think that surgery is the only cure or the best. You need to have an nerve study done, and try other measures first.
