Anyone have experience with these sorts of jobs?
Do they pay a bit better than OTR?
Seems like a lot of work.
Been seeing a lot of ads for this sort of stuff lately.

Done em both.
Don't necessarily pay better than any other freight.
Carpet unloaded w a pole truck and mattresses usually have to be tailgated.
Maybe more stop pay for mattresses but both will find you going to stores/docks that are difficult.bzinger Thanks this. -
Ohhhh yeah ....but probably one of the best jobs I've ever had and was 20 years ago .
Worked for a foam company that made carpet pad and got into the damndest places ...all tailgate unload .
Hot as hell in summer and freeze in winter .
Upside :
Private carrier out and back .
Paid for everything I did including down time , meals , motels .
New full service lease trucks every 4 years .
Home every other night and weekends.
All they asked was take care of the customer.motocross25 Thanks this. -
What, are you nuts?

201 Thanks this.

Did a mattress load a while back pays like crap.
3 hours before detention starts and it’s floor loaded which means about 4 hours of Loading and another 4 hours to unload.
Now look at this for an example.
400 mile run with 4 hours or more lost to loading and then unloading Another 4 hours which eats into your 14 on the next day isn’t worth it because most likely your appt time will be around 8-9am by the time they are done it will be 12-1pm and finding a load at that time is a bit more difficult. -
LoneRanger and bzinger Thank this.

LoneRanger Thanks this.

My experiences were before new HOS rules.
Every stop was 15 on line 4 and appt time was when you showed up.
Unlike today the consignee was happy to receive their freight
