Was going to lease onto this company and I looked them up and found this.:biggrin_2556: I will not say who this is but has anyone else ran into something like this. Looks to me like I would put myself under the DOT's microscope if I go here. All the other ratings are Ok just the maintenance ratings are high. He owns 20 or so trucks and a few owner operators as well. Has had a few OOS due to this as well. What kind of ratings are some of you running under in the same size carriers? What should I do?

What do you mean by what should you do? You already know what to do. You've got 20 years experience. You avoid that company like the plague. That's what I'd do.

I agree,.. you have to weigh the pro's and con's.

Just because his rating is poor,.. does not necessarily mean he is purposely neglectful. If a driver does not report his truck as having a problem (Worn tires), (Air Leaks) (Etc), and DOT catches the problem before the company does,.. I can see where it can get out of hand real quick. And if your truck is on the up and up,.. then what does it matter?

It only takes a few bad apples to turn a CSA BASIC score into crap in real short order. My boss started hiring O/O's 2 yrs ago and in that 2 yrs, his driver fatigue score went from a perfect score to where he has had to find different insurance because his primary carrier refused to renew his policy. One of the O/O's had a driver who's CDL was suspended due to a DUI, yet he continued to drive his truck. I dont know the whole story,.. but apparently the driver had a minor accident and DOT had a field day when they discovered he was driving on a suspended license.

So there is always 2 sides to a story.

After 20 yrs you should have enough gut instinct to tell you who are and arent the proper companies to sign on with.
But I digress,.. I'm just a driver,.. what do I know?

I would not let it bother me at all. if you like the co, the runs, the loads, the pay, & if you keep your truck in good shape, let the d.o.t. pull you over & find your a new hire without a bad safety score. I am with a co whose safety record is always under scrutiny, but I am home every day, & making good revenue. so if & I get pulled over by d.o.t. I'll drop my drawers bend over & let them sniff all they want. :biggrin_25522:

there are tons of companies with high ratings.

the thing to remember, is it's not the company necessarily, but the drivers that get the points.

there are companies that don't take care of there equipment. and there are drivers that don't do their jobs.

every company i've worked for has had high scores. but i'm not getting pulled in. i don't give them a reason to.
