I got a carrier reefer that lately has been giving me trouble. Last night after 5 attempts to start on start stop setting I had to shut it down. After calling the company that my company leases the trailer from I decided to try it again. I jiggled some wires under the micro box and it started so I ran it in continuous. This morning I flipped it to start stop and it seems to be running right. The leasing company said it might have been because it got wet yesterday in the rain. Has anyone ever had any problems like his before? What it was doing was attempting to start then not starting but no fault codes were coming up just the whole unit would turn off and go through its normal set up as if you were first turning it on. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    what a fault code?

it may stall with low coolant, bad ECT, no fuel

It's not stalling plenty of fuel no codes just attempts to start and it loses all power and goes through a reset like its being turned on for he first time. And tries to start again. If I jiggle some wires it starts then stops then it does it all over again.

I think they got it after checking all wires and control panel the dealer couldn't duplicate the problem. But they did find that the engine block ground was lose.

Mine did about the same thing a few months ago, but jiggling wires didn't help. It was the battery that shorted out internally. I'm guessing you got another power or ground wire starting to come apart. Usually with heavy rain the units will pop the ALT AUX code which really isn't any big deal if it is raining out. This just says that the ALT pulley slipped on the belt and the ECM didn't see the full voltage in a certain length of time. The ECMs are setup to see full voltage as soon as the unit starts...if not it will throw a code.

They checked every wire in the wiring harness and in the control box so I guess it was that lose engine block ground. We will see I'm waiting to see if it restarts now. The whole time at the shop it wouldn't do it so the tech said its like diagnosing a ghost.

    Cranky arent they?

This is like the dead of winter right now if you have produce in the box that needs 45 degrees and it's 18 under outside, she'll go into heat mode.
