Making something illegal will do absolutely NOTHING to prevent those who will break the law anyway. Had the innocent students been armed, Cho would have had a bullet in his head long before he managed to kill 32 people.

 

Exactly..... Like I said, I've worked in the streets and have seen it first hand. If everyone obeyed drug, gun, burglary, robbery, assault, rape and theft laws, we would have no crime. However, there are certain individuals in this world that choose to do things THEIR way, regardless of laws. They will ALWAYS have their guns and weapons because they disobey the law. But the innocent, law-abiding people who turn in their guns will now have to submit and cowar in fear from those who violate the laws. Very Simple to figure it out....... at least for some people. The vast majority of the anti-gun crowd, has never had any crime happen to them. I've seen the little yuppie liberals who are anti everything, including guns, pay a visit to the gun shop. They are now looking to buy a gun and go through a training class, because someone attempted to break into their home last night while they were sleeping. NOW they believe in having a gun, but yesterday they were waving signs and screaming at the anti-gun rally.

I had one of "those" couples come into a shop where I worked part time. They only thing that saved them, was they called the guy next door who was a "gun nut" as they said, and he came over and caught the guy going into a window. He grabbed him, shoved him on the ground and held him at gun point until police arrived. (well at least the woman had someone in the house with a pair, that would protect her) The bad guy had 2 prior convictions as a sex offender, and currently had a warrant out on him for not registering and moving to another area. There is no telling what he would have done that night. By the way, did I mention he had a LARGE survival type knife and a small 22 derringer on him. Hmmmmmmm!!!! He was a convicted felon and was forbidden to own those weapons under law.

Well every animal that is legal to hunt in the United States is hunted with a handgun. and a is hunted with handguns in other countries also. and I personally have hunted with a handgun several times. I am not going to go into the differences in pistols, revolvers etc. as I don't want to confuse you too much. But you sound to me like an anti or an anti in the making.

A NC friend was in Manhattan for a weekend staying in a hotel. The bellhop noticed his pistol grip in the console and my friend was unaware he saw it. 2 days later when he was walking to his pickup truck police were at the exit wearing headsets with mikes and spread out. He thought a celebrity was showing up at the hotel. He even spoke to the police walking by.

After his truck was brought to him and he took the drivers seat. Those police surrounded him. HE WAS THE CELEBRITY! They ask him if he had a gun in the console. He had just put it back. Off to jail he went. After big money spent on a lawyer he stayed out of jail but now has a felony gun crime.

Yes, he was careless with his gun by allowing it to be seen, and in NYC guns are not allowed. The city laws are very different than the rest of the state and I don't know exactly what they are regarding guns. I just know what happened to my friend.

I know some NY residents have conceal carry permits but some have to wait give or take 2 years to get them approved by a judge (RIDICULOUS!) and my NC permit is "no good" in NY state. My handgun coarse instructor in NC is a former NY resident and it took him over 2 years to get his permit approved in NY. 30 other states do honor the NC permit though, last year it was only 26. I choose only to drive my semi in the ones that do, I only run VA,NC,SC,GA and FL now. The bellhop reported my friend to Police, probably for the drama? That happened in July 2007.

 

Thanks for the story. Sounds like the typical crime fighter BS where the only crime they can fight is to #### with your otherwise law obiding citizens, instead of the crackheads and robbers.

I is way way WAY beyond my mental comprehension why people choose to live in leftist liberal infested ###holes like New York and Kaliphornia.

Disclaimer: "law obiding citizen" was once a truthfull statement. Today it is an oxymoron, due to the countless bazzilion laws that criminalize EVERYTHING.

NJ is just as bad as NYC. I had a good friend there who was a corrections officer. Her father was the local chief of police. She had a permit to carry off duty, signed by the governor. it took her a year to complete the purchase of her handgun. I don't know if it is still done this way up there, but the procedure was/is to pick out the specific weapon, pay for it, and it is put in the safe until you receive your purchase permit.

She also told me of the horrors of the southerners coming up to visit, still with a gun rack in the back of their pickups. Of course they are immediately arrested and incarcerated, all the while having no clue as to why such a big deal is made just because they had a gun in the car. "Doesn't everybody"?

Now, all this was twenty years ago. The situation has gotten MUCH worse up there since then.

Finally, where I went to college in PA (early 70's) I was the designated person in my dorm to store everyone's weapons, locked up in my closet. We were allowed to hunt, on campus, and no one cared if you showed up to class (usually late after cleaning squirrels!) with a handgun on your side, or carrying a rifle or shotgun. Did anyone EVER think of terrorists, or in any way fear for their lives? No, because out there, in Amish, Mennonite, and Brethren country, everyone looked at guns as just another tool. Every time I hear of a shooting at a school I wonder what would have happened if anyone tried something like that at our school. And, I will add, not one of us had our guns there as a matter or self defense (except, again, from those pesky squirrels), although no one would hesitate to defend himself or another if the situation called for it. Back then we were taught that the second amendment was something to embrace, not disgrace. Those were, as they say, "the good ole' days".

 

Thanks for sharing that roshea. I am age 39 and my older brother is 61. (5 sisters too, sheesh!) My brother told me in he elementary school is was nothing to carry a 22 rifle to school and the teacher keep the boys guns in the corner until school let out. They were going hunting after school. This was Iredell County NC.
I am adding the below information for those who are interested. Careful not to put the actual web link. I don't want another infraction on here. Google Cornell University Law School and search for US CODE: Title 18, Part 1, Chapter 44, 926A. It explain how Federal law allows transportation of firearms from one legal possession state to another legal possession state providing the gun is unloaded and no ammunition or gun is readily accessible in the same area with the driver or it can be locked in a container or case but not a glove box or console.
