Okay I see what you did there. I like how you have that set up.

Do you put a tarp on that or do you leave that open to the elements? No problems with that?

How long have you been using that set-up?

    Your opinion...

1st year cost for my setup
    Generator $849 - 20% = $679.20
    2 year warrenty $159 - 10% = $143.10
    (10% discount sale on Generator)
(10% discount on Total 1st use harbor freight cc)
Remote start kit $129 (1 time cost)
Extended run kit $259 (1 time cost)
Custom box $225 frame mount (1 time cost)
    Portable ac $300 (5.100 btu)
Reroute exhaust $17 (1 time cost)
    Total cost 1st year $1,752.30

I can replace the Generator , ac, and Extended warrenty (at full price
if needed) every 2 years for $1,328
That's a total cost of $7064.30 for 6 years.... versus what $13,000 for a new apu....

    Couple of quick questions.

    1) Do you have a box for that or does that stay open on the catwalk like the photo? I was going to leave mine open and just put a tarp on it when I'm not using it at least for now.

    2) If you installed the remote start kit how do you like it? How much of a job was it to install it? Does the choke work properly with it?

    3) If you installed the extended run kit what kind of a fuel tank are you using? How many gallons is it?

    4) How long have you been running this?

it's been like that for 3 months with no problems... in 3 weeks when I'm home for 10 days I'm having a frame mount custom box made for it... solid top cutout for gas fill, vented sides with cutout for pull start and oil fill/check, vented back with hole for exhaust pipe, vented front with cover for control panel and plugs.....

Did I read correctly the cost of that box of $225? If not what is the cost for that? Could you share what company is making the Box?

Eventually I would like to get a box made.

for now it sits as you see it.... for 3 months so far with no problems.... putting a cover on it would defeat the purpose of the remote start as you would need to remove the cover before you used it. I'm having a custom frame mount box built for it in 3 weeks

Took longer to remove to 2 side covers than install the kit.... took about 45min total... 10min just for the kit... it really simple to install. Yes it kicks the choke long enough for it to start 1st try.... I love it... if I wake up hot just press a button and it starts wait 15sec and press a button the ac starts... when it's time to leave I just turn off the ac then press a button and off goes the generator.

I have the kit at home and will be installing it in 3 weeks..... I have a spare 6gl tank for my boat I'll be using
    3 months so far

that was a rough quote over the phone from a small shop by my house... I'll know the real total after a get home so he can see just how I want it and where it goes

A quick Google search said 100 hours to change oil.

What intervals are you guys changing at?

Are you using synthetic or regular oil?
