Cascadia 12v sockets won't output their rated output unless the engine is running

Actually, both circuits are still fused at their rated current, so there shouldn't be any hazard.

What's happening is that with the two sources, the power (and current draw) is divided in half for each outlet. Half the current means half the voltage drop, which supports my theory that it was a low voltage problem and not a current problem.

What kind of laptop are you using it with? When I had a M17x mine would do that with the dual 280s but my other laptops are fine.

Kinda forgot about this thread... lol. I ended up ditching the cheapo inverter and bought a nice Tripplite one that works perfectly with my laptop on the single 20A 12v socket, even when the truck is not running. The laptop is based off the Clevo P150EM platform, running a Radeon 7970M and a quad-core i7 3630QM, it will use a LOT of power, I believe the power adapter is rated for 180W.

I'm guessing the higher-quality inverter is much more efficient and therefore doesn't need to draw as much in order to supply enough power for the laptop.
