so i found a mount, i got it at the Petro in knoxville on 40.
mounts on the grab bar on the sleeper and wraps around the faring on the driver side of my truck.
the bracket cost $60 and so far its worth it...
heres some pics of what it looks like....
so far it works great. works really good!!!![]()

Don't make too tight a backing turn!
-
i figure if im making a turn that tight i dont beling there...
gotta say tho, this has helped me inprove at least 80% from where i was b4 i had this.... highly rocomended for anyone looking to mount with the same issues as the cascadia... -
What is your swr with that setup? Just wondering because I can't believe you don't get a huge amount of reflect with that antenna being so close to the cab.
-
me reception is great with this set up... im able to hear guys about 5-6 miles away super clear, they cant always hear me, but for the most part i give this set up a 7 out of 10... tho i am only a newbe with the cb world..
its way better then the factory set up for sure!!!! -
Sounds like you may have some SWR reflect.
The antenna can be mounted anywhere on the truck pretty much to hear anyone, but to get out, a low SWR is required. That might be why some of the others can't hear you at 5-6 miles but you can hear them ok. Otherwise I'd say their antenna aren't that good either but if you can hear them at 5-6 miles their antenna must be ok, or their running some juice. -
Can you get it mounted higher up? In my exp youll never have a great radio unless you can clear all those obstacles. I am some what in the same boat as you but with a Volvo. All plastic covered mirrors/mounts. There is a cb mount inside the top of the miror, but its fairly flimsy to run a mag type antenna.

turbo-t. i was in dalton ga, at exit 326 and i was talking to a guy that was up at the 33mm and i could just hardly hear him say that he hit the 34mm... until he got there i was able to hear him really clear. he was able to hear me up to the 33mm..
kansas, no i can not mount it any higher, if i do, the top of the antenna will hit low bridges and branches.
tha advantage to the volvo and most other trucks is that their are more places to mout an antenna, hell, i dont even have a place to mount my sat antenna, so its attached to my other factory antenna, you can see it in the 2nd picture.. -
That could have easily been skip rolling, in which the transmission can travel for miles.Williamgon Thanks this.
