So we just got a 2010 Cascadia with a Detroit 60 VI in it. My driver reports that when going up a hill under load the truck is sluggish, only getting up to 50/55 with not a heavy load. At first he thought it was the floor mat impeding the pedal travel. Then he discovered that if he has the cruise set at 65 it goes up hills no problem. As a test he had the pedal to the floor and got it to 50 where the truck seemed to top out. He pressed the resume but on the cruise and it took off up to 65 without a problem. On the flats the pedal seems to work fine.

The truck used to have a PTO kit on it before we got it.

Is this the throttle sensor or a programming change or what? Almost seems like torque limited on the pedal but not on the cruise?

    Thanks in advance.

Probably in multi torque setting. it will take a dealer to change it.

Yeah what he said. The power can be set different for the cruise and the pedal. You'll need to plug into the computer to change the setting.

Should be Cruise Power, in Engine Ratings.

You can probably select 2 or 3 normal ratings and 1 cruise power rating. Normal rating has same power/torque on pedal and cruise control.
Cruise Power has more power in cruise control, less when on pedal.

When connected to the engine first make sure if your pedal position sensor reading goes all the way to 100%. If it doesn't, that is most likely the problem.

You should also be able to read out the calculated lbft engine is producing. Compare lbft on pedal and when in cruise control. Should go to same max value if cruise power is not activated.

    tallmon Thanks this.

Plugged it in. Sensor was only going up to about 86%. If I wiggled it I could get it to 96%. Needs new accelerator pedal.

Yes it does. That is the most likely issue.

Also make sure the cruise and pedal speeds match, or make the needed change if you want cruise faster than pedal, etc.
