Unless they have changed dramtically in the last 5 years, Cassens was always a top notch company. One of the last Teamster carhaul companies left.
Wages are based on the union master contract broken down by conference. Detroit was always Central/Southern. There is usually a "local rider" to the master agreement at each terminal. That is usually covering local work rules, etc. Wages are governed by the master agreement. Carhaul is not for everybody. However if you are up for it, it gets in your blood. It is not something you just go and do...there is a knack for it.

Starting out at cassens is not great you get the left over work treated like a pile of dirt they dont care about you at all. They find anything they can do to write you up and get rid of you.The equipment is trash. But if you ha

Thats right its a cool job once everything starts to come together. Its just hard to deal with all the union b.s. Im still there but I dont know how much more i can last its not bad when you get a road load with some miles. But the city work sucks for what you get paid 120 to take a load downtown chicago its not worth the headache to me.

I have to laugh. You guys talk like they owe you something. They give you exactly what they are bound to by the master agreement. And they give you a job. There is plenty of dough to be made in carhaul. If you do your job and stay clear of the ##### stirrers you will never have a problem. It is the ones who always seem to need the steward or BA to save their job are the ones that have issues. Same as guys that always seem to have issues at the dealer getting their units checked in. Instead of building a relationship with the check-in person they want to do it the hard way. Pull your units where they want them, pop the trunks as a courtesy and don't push the guy and that will take you a long way. Next time...you are in and out of the dealer with clean BOL's in hand.

i cant get on board with showing up to work just to sit around for five hours then get sent home because they didnt have a truck for me.... now i did a good job and showed up to work every day and every load i took was damage free... im just gonna put it like this.. its really really hard to make it as a new guy around there but im sure if you can survive financially for your first year you will be set.
