Dont forget a 6V is a lot shorter in length then a inline 6 cylinder giant like that 1693. Everything would need changed. Be way easier to put another inline 6 of sorts back in its place.
Oxbow Thanks this. -

I was a truck mechanic in the 70's. I worked at a White dealer on White Freightliners. I will say that swapping the Cat 1673 for any other engine will involve lots of modifications, especially the 6V92. on top of that ,the 6V92 is not an engine that I would even consider.
Oxbow, Fire ant and BoxCarKidd Thank this. -
Base my opinion on what. I have both of these engines but not a fan of the 1693 -

Have you ever lumbered around at 80,000 pounds gross with a 6V 92? Why would anyone spend money to go there?Art Vandelay, pushbroom and Oxbow Thank this. -
I am not a diesel wrench but according to what I've read the 1693 you can sell for big money they are the classic Holy Grail engine.
6v92 Detroit is going to be loud and always thirsty. Hope you like 4mpg unless you don't pull trailer.
I'm not a CAT fan due to parts and repair prices being arm, and legs. You want a different engine for your truck go for a big cam series 3 or N14, or 12.7 series 60 pre 99.shmuck359 Thanks this. -

An uprate can’t be done on the 6v?
