I picked up a 1MM out of a 2000 western star am told it dropped a valve my ? is should I keep it and build it or sell and find a 6NZ what I was origanaly looking for its going into a 1986 ex hood 359 also I was told that only difference from a 7cz and a 1mm is the newer block could a guy just get a 6nz block that is lighter and better for leaks and swap the internals thanks

If it dropped a valve fix it. Yes you can swap rotating assemblies but you have to use it all. No mismatching parts. Since it's out have the crank checked. I would put a rod in that hole for sure. We out of framed ours 4 years ago and 350k still no leaks.

The 1MM is basically a 70 pin E model with a bigger rotating assembly. 2WS would be a more fair comparison

I have a 1mm in mine. With a Acert crank and industrial liner packs. The 1mm block is 300 lbs heavier than a 7zc or 6nz. It is a stronger block than the 7cz or 6nz. Dont be afraid of it. Very strong engine, fix it and ride.

after all the positive reaction I am going to keep and use it seems like I came into maybe a good motor I called 2 cat dealers today to get a quote on parts and both said they knew of people wanting to buy if I decided to sell
