I have a new to me rig that has a CAT 3406 B with a 13 speed but was going drive it as a 9 speed for a bit.

What RPM should I be shifting at ?

So your gonna straight shift your 13 speed and not use the splitter.
I won't ask why cuz I'm scared to know the answer.

You won't have a choice really , your going to have to rev it up fairly high to straight shift it . In the upper gears probley like 1800-1900 rpm to make the next gear .

Here's an idea, just drive it like it was designed to with that trans.

    13-1500 rpm

No problem straight shifting when you just bobtail, but if you are loaded, it will be a bit more difficult.

    thanks Bakerman

    1. What should I take her down to for downshifting full gears?

    2. I haven't used a 13 speed yet, as I understand it for upshifting half gears move the splitter in the high position and let of the throttle and then get back on the throttle and she will shift into the high position.

What is the process to downshift a half gear?

Pull splitter into low position, let off the throttle and then burp the throttle. I do this with the Jake on for quicker response.

Bobtail/empty I never split up or down. Downshifting I'm lazy and usually just do full gears.

ODR, ramblingman and turboguy Thank this.
