Hey guys I just want to know more information on if it’s possible to add on a dpf filter for a 1998 truck cat. I live in Washington state so i haven’t heard anything about carb testing and I want to use the truck to go to ports. Also can I just put it on pass the smog test and then disconnect it?

It should pass smog without a filter in Washington unless something’s wrong with it

Well to enter port is the only reason we need to pass smog test it needs to be carb compliant

CARB stands for California Air Research Board. It’s California related only. I have no clue what goes on in Washington ports. In California, the DPF for that year is not compliant any longer as of January 1, 2020.

Well if that’s so, your wasting your money, your not going to be compliant. You are going to need a 2010 “Engine” which will be 2011 truck.

    062 Thanks this.

Lets see that law. Have you tried actually going into a port there? Were you stopped, inspected and turned away? If you haven't and weren't and are basing your question off "they said" without any other proof. Id ignore that stuff.

I have never heard of anything or anyone but on their site it says it needs to be equal to carb. They give you a device that’s specific to your truck that you need to put your vin in and if it’s before 2007 they need dpf. Sometimes I just want to take my chances and go in. Lol
