I have a 2004 c15 mbn cat in a peterbilt 379. The best I can get for mileage is 4.7mpg.I want to swap in a 6nz ecm with a 600hp file in it. I’m wondering if anyone who has had their mbn reflashed to 6nz specs seen an increase in their mpg ? And if so how much of an increase??

I had a 04 379 with a mbn gave me around 5.2 mpg. 6nz file helped a bit in terms of power and mpg. Best would be to get it properly tuned, lose those stock mufflers. Im sure someone else can chime in. Look around at the threads.

... how much money are you looking to spend?
On the cheap. Buy a 1000 dollar bully dog hd power pup. Should get you a mpg and some power. No need for costly ecm.
Next level up get a borg warner non waste gated turbo. Should net you another .5 mpg and a few ponies
After that if you have un ending pockets, Cam and Injectors. Then forget all previous advice and get a tuned ecm and a turbo to match internals.joey8686 and Chickentrucker20 Thank this. -
Yea get the one they call the stage 1, stock one sucks, pinched off the wastegate wasnt any better lol.

I just got done doing a 600hp file, Kurt Murray stage 1 turbo and 6nz camshaft in my 04 MBN It's in a 04 379 triaxle dump and best I got so far was 6.25 mpg that's loaded and empty combined and driving real easy which is very hard to do since it runs so good. Depends on how much you want to spend though. I would start off with the tune and block the stock wastegate hose if a turbo isn't in the budget. You should really change that if you go with the 600 file since you will be over speeding the turbo and it's anyone's guess how long it will last.

6NZ running stage 3 PDI tune, custom injectors, PDI manifold, big Holset Turbo(not a fan),custom Cam, bigger fuel lines, bigger Fuel pump, backed on the Fas fuel system, bigger down pipe in fuel filter, longer fuel filter, 8” straights,
Very lumpy sounding, cranked out 920 to ground, 4790 torque. Was very good on fuel, very ####ty driving in snow lol. Bought her from guy that said ran great. Turned out couldn’t keep injector in it more than a week. So took her to the dyno, got her timed, all new custom injectors, an it ran like top after great mileage. Oh an it had a C16 head on her. Guys ran dyno it blew their mind to ever see numbers like that for hp to torque numbers. Cost me $$$ fox it right but once did drive with egg shell under foot an she got some real #### good mileage. Now I jus sold the isx an back into my 6NZ. Ash man you gonna have fun helping on this monster nowjoey8686 Thanks this. -
I hope your custom injectors have a decent size tip like 3.4xplus kg/min. would hate to see the cylinder pressure and temp from stretching PW on a standard or 15% over injector to get 900hp of fuel.
3406E/C15/C16/C18 are all the same head fundamentally. the cast is the same. only difference being valves and seats fitted and if the cast has NPT and UNO ports or UNO only ports. even the ACERT heads are same casting. 7cz has more or less same head as 6nz no advantages. the use the same cam and injectors from factory too. I personally prefer the 3652961 (20R0409) head listed for the C18. used to have the 2365605 inlet valve. never recessed like the old 1537023 inlet valve.
they all come with 4907198 inlet valve which seems to be holding up ok. -
