Filter is Fleetguard FS 1023 screen type.( no media ) 100 micron 400 gph. with no media to hold water you need to drain every few days more in winter. least restrictive filter for 120 gph head i can find. did alot of looking. for comparison, Cats upgrade 256-8753 is 10 mic 320 gph. this may be a DUH but remember everything below 100 mic will go to sec filter. i know guys running FS 1023 and changing sec filter around 18-20k. this filter is not cheap( 38-40.00 ) but could be used for 2 oil changes, more if your willing to clean it. friend got these at Fleetgaurd on line # 30.00 ea. dont expect a huge change with this filter. mostly will improve throttle response.
Cats max spec on Exh back press is 40 in water and your close at 35 . must be stock Exh. might look at an upgrade in future. Acerts dont like restriction of any kind. hope this helps -
Had a little trouble with suppliers finding part number for base for 256-8753 filter. They finally found it. Have 3/4" outside diameter threads & am picking up Part #280-2698.

I connected plastic tubing to return fuel line on driver's side and saw that there was air in the fuel. I found air leak where fuel line fitting entered the filter base and put in new o-rings when I put in the new filter base and filter. Fuel is clear and I got a little smoke out of it.
Will shim up spring in the old style pump to 100 lbs. tomorrow. (Can't believe we're still shimming pumps. That's what people did when I was a kid.) I found oil inside the front and rear IVA/injector harnesses. Got new harnesses and I'll install those tomorrow. -
A suggestion before install of harnesses. where wires go thru back of plug is clearly where oil enters. I wondered after my harness was in about sealing that area up with an epoxy or a type of sealer to prevent oil from entering plug in the future.not sure what product one would use but done right it would not happen again.
-
I'd been thinking about same thing and trying to decide what I'd use. Maybe JB Weld. Was actually thinking about doing that to harness that's in now. Insulation and housing on it are brittle, but thought about just sealing it off to see if that cured the problem instead of putting in the new harness.
-
problem is that oil in plug probably means oil inside wires. oil follows electrical current and have heard of oil making its way to ECM. cut my harness open and there was oil in the wire. not worth the risk in my opinion. oh well couple more years and Ill be doing my harness again but the right way then. I have good contact at Cat tech center and according to him theres been no update to harnesses since Acert was introduced

12.7 Detroits used to do the same thing. I changed out a perfectly good looking injector harness that has weeped oil almost all the way back to the ECM.
