Had the truck serviced last night. And afterwards seem to be missing under load while pulling up a hill. sounds like its lugging but shouldn't be at 14-1500 rpms. it has had a drone for awhile which I think is the motor mounts which me and dad are going to replace next weekend. After the service the drone sounds as if it has gotten louder. The truck has also had a cold miss for awhile..injector? Another question this is a 2005 mxs c15 acert.....does it have a cranckcase filter and where would it be located?
cat c15 acert miss after service

Was is just a basic oil change, or a valves adjustment? There are many things that could cause a miss. Injector, injector harness, intake valve actuator issue. Check fuel pressure, I'm assuming they changed the filters. Is it lacking boost pressure since the service? You should have a cylinder cutout and intake actuator test done if you don't find anything. Pop the valve covers off and look. They were known for breaking rocker studs, there was a updated stud. If it hasn't had them, you should replace the studs. Do you ever get a check engine light?
The crank case breather is usually in the rear valve cover on the left side, but different chassis could be different. There's a baffle in there, but no filter that I know of, but I never took one apart. If anything, there might be a mesh screen in it. -
Make sure that the fuel filters are tight, also check to be sure that the valve on the bottom of the fuel water separator is tight, I have pulled them out of the wrapper that were not tight and caused the filter to suck air thru it when under a load.

I had an overhead done at a Cat dealer that made my Jake pop the next overhead fixed it.

That was the first thing I checked everything tight. as far as the service it was a basic pm....oil, oil and fuel filters, lube. Still has boost, same as before. had an actuator valve replaced last year and mechanic said it had the updated studs. no check engine light. what should the fuel pressure readings be. my dad has a tool that plugs into the ecm, not sure if it can do those tests but while I am at his shop next week we'll do some checking.

would the injector/valve timing being out of wack cause problems? Reason I ask is because I have put 325,000 miles on this truck and have never run the overhead and don't know when the last time it has been done. What does an overhead job usually cost?

I'm really not that familiar w/Cats, but on Detroits at least, you would have tight intakes by that mileage.

If it only started after the service, id look at the fuel, take the primary filter off and make shure the gasket is good, in doudt throw it away as it is your cheapest starting point, if that checks out fine do a cylinder cut out to check your injectors, changing your secondary filter opens the system up for foreign matter that could of took out a injector.
Checking you fuel pressure, putting in a clear line to check for air, and running a overhead ajustment would also be good, but any of these things should not happen suddenly. -
I like to see 80 pounds at an idle and 100 at least by 1,200 rpms on a acert. usely with out the updated pump spring they will idle around 65 and run about 85 pound. acert engines have bigger injector tip and the cam has a lower plung rate, also the acert has a pilot shot of fuel put in before the full shot this is put in, all this is done with the cam lobe so it make them more fussy about getting your injectors set evenly and your fuel pressre.

did you replace with cat filters, mine runs like crap with anything but cat filters
