I have heard that someone out there is making cylinder head stud kits for C15s but I cant find any info on them, anyone know of anyone making these or is it a myth?

I have a C15 Acert that is having a small issue of lifting the head and blowing coolant out under boost, head studs would definatly help.

I haven't found anyone that makes a aftermarket stud kit yet. I would be extremely interested in a kit since I seem to keep having headgasket issues...though its not related to lifting of the head, more like bad workmanship at the dealers.

I wonder if someone like ARP (the aftermarket racing fastener specialist) would have any interest. Their products are top notch. Might be worth a call. I'll warn you though, they won't be cheap.

Honestly just a higher grade of bolt would help, it wouldnt have to be studs.

For the price Cat charges you wouldn't think a higher grade bolt would be available :biggrin_25513:

I've called ARP before about making them. They said they would do it no problem. I filled out the spec sheet just never got around to sending it to them. I was gonna check on how many people would be interested so I could tell them how many sets to make.

They might not be as bad price wise as you would think, that is until ARP figures out what they are for.

Their diesel stuff is ridiculous, take a set of 6.0 ford head studs, they are almost $800, you can buy the same size and number of studs for a gas engine for less than a quater of that.

    Good luck.

Nothing yet...besides a wheel seal last Sunday. But with 3 head gaskets in 13 months I am willing to try anything to get the head to seal correctly:biggrin_25510:.

    Les2 Thanks this.

wow 3 headgaskets in 13 months you got me worried just overhauled mine. so far so good. only got 4000 miles on it. i did take some good advice from a reliable person and bought a upgraded reman head instead of just reman. also learned that you cant turn these acerts up to allfull much because of the higher compression. it has a tendesy to stretch the head bolts pretty easy. one thing about getting stronger head bolts you make them stronger you could start pulling the threads out of the block.
