CAT ECM PROBLEM

I believe any OEM rerates require dealer level CAT ET and passwords from Caterpillar.

 

You should still be able to connect for diagnostic purposes. Some thing does not sound right. Factory passwords are required for any flash file, personality, or fls fts changes. You are prompted to enter the factory passwords two of them before the changes will be made.

 

I have had a similar issue before. Cat et would connect but not another reader. Was a bad ecm. As farcas just a rerate the doctor or someelse can usally erease factory passwords if thats the hold up.

 

There is a guy here in Phoenix that can do it. I have a C 12 that he bumped up to 475/1650 and that thing runs like a raped ape now. If you ever come through Phoenix, check him out.

Pittsburgh Power can tune you ECM I believe. They are even doing remote tuning now. You go to one of their locations and they will hook up the ECM to computer. The guys from Pittsburgh Power tune the ECM from Pennsylvania. I never ued them but that what they are do now. You can also overnight you ECM to them.

 

Why don't you buy your own set up ? I did. You will need a laptop, Cat comm adapter and you will need to download the Cat ET, flash files, and most important, "password generator ". Or you can search on EBay, Craigslist, etc. and buy everything all together. Doesn't come cheap and you need to know what to look for. You have to be computer savvy if you want to download your own stuff and beware of the viruses. Everything you need is on the wide world of web, but you need to know what your doing.
