That is definately a Cat filter base to take a 2568753 or similar water separator filter but I cant see if its higher flow or not.

That is the correct numbers, these two numbers allow a much greater flow over stock. The big Cat at WOT can draw more flow than a FS1000 can deliver.

A dyno test was ran in Arkanas for a customer with both Fleetguard and CAT fuel filters.

    A KW T800 with a 475/1650 CAT with 3.36 rear end ratio.
Under a full load, the CAT high effiency fuel filter 256-8753 showed an 11 hp improvement and burned .8 gph fuel less than the Fleetguard. At 1400 rpm-- Wheel HP measured 383 and a fuel rate of 20.0 gph CAT versus 373 HP and 20.8 gph Fleetguard.

A 550/1850 needs around 98 gph where the Fleetguard is spec'd around 90 gph. It is a decent filter but just doesn't flow enough.

The combination of the 256-8753 and the 280-2698 filter head will flow 125 gph filling the injectors full and providing the full shot.

On my W900, it is on the frame, just in front of the battery box.
The 256-8753, and the FS1000 are fuel/water separators.

Someone, I think it was on this forum, had posted some very interesting reading, some time back. There were two memos from Cat, called "Information Release Memo"

First is titled "Improved Performance Fuel-Water Separator Family"
    IRM/408110142.doc FIL04-09 August 2004

Second is titled "Parts Comparison Bulletin"
    PCB FIL06-01 March 2006

    Good Info in both!
First one recommends (among others) Fuel Water Basic Configuration
Base 195-1068 with 1r0769 (axial seal) FWS or
Base 177-9778 with 1R0771 (radial seal) FWS (This is listed as new design)
    Listed for the following applications:
    Medium engines: C15-C16 3408-3412
Also offered with Prime time full flow electric pump, which, if I understand correctly, can be used to prime after filter change, along with aiding flow.

Second bulletin is a filter comparison done by Cat, against some of the big names out there.

Hoping someone can bring the two back, as they would fit great in this thread!

Also along these lines, could someone tell me if this filter group (8H-7204) is a fuel water separator, or simply a filter. It is a permanent screen type of filter, that some guys in my area are running. Comes from Cat with 3/8" NPT inlet and outlet, and fellows bring them to machine shops getting the inlet/outlet opened to 1/2" NPT. It just doesn't seem large enough for a big fuel flow, but some of the trucks it's mounted on are running big hp. Kind of curious as to the original application, if anyone does happen to look it up.

    Thanks
