This is why I don't care for Fleetguard fuel filters.

This is from a FF5320 2 micron Fleetguard filter.

The same Cat filter 1R-0750 or the larger 1R-0749 have aluminum tops and plastic center tube so they can't rust.

How is the water getting to your secondary filter?

I didn't take the pictures. Their from a different forum discussing fuel filters. It was mounted on a Dodge pickup as a secondary between the factory filter and the injection pump. I'm sure the fuel was bought from several different places since it was a daily driver. Either way this can't happen with a Cat 2micron filter since it's plastic/aluminum.

Your right this cant happen with Cat filters and i use them . i used Fleetguards for many years and have never seen them rust like that.
had the owner of that Dodge been useing an alum/plastic filter like a Cat he wouldnt know he had a water in fuel issue until he started dropping injectors. a positive or a negative????

well neither are a plus but if I have a choice I'll take the water over the rust. The truck this came off of was a common rail so water is going to do less damage at 26k psi than rust, but neither are good.
