Sounds like the filters are doing their job... I did a few experiments several years ago just to see how long a fuel filter would last. I got 65K out of one before it plugged up RIGHT NOW! I've gone 50K a few times... but I usually change them every 20k or so.

I'm getting about same as you; Last service, I was speaking to owner of a service facility (a very knowledgeable friend) about this, thinking that water was my problem. Draining the petcock on the Cat fuel/water separator yielded little, if any water, other brands weren't much better, I had commented to him.
He told me to follow him into his office, then showed me the web sites he had visited, researching "bad fuel". He is joint owner of a service shop, and truck wash at a truckstop near me, so he gets a lot of truck driver input. The nearby truckstop owner, who buys the fuel, had also been researching, due to the rising # of complaints, and had told him that water wasn't the problem, as many believed, but the bacteria.
After thinking about my experiences, I tend to agree- draining the filters doesn't yield much water, and if I add a good additive, such as the Shaeffers, I find less problem.
The service shop owner stated that the truckstop owner had been using an additive for the bacteria. I wrote the name down, and now cannot find it. (Darn CRS) It was four letters, something like FGGT.

I think that we are going to continually have this problem, unless the refinerys develop an additive that will constantly kill the bacteria.

Schaefer makes a good anti-bacteria additive.

Next time you change filters, take them to a shop and have them cut the filter open using a filter cutter. Look at the media and deep in the pleats. With the cat filters, you will have to cut the cord to open the pleats. If your filter is plugging that fast, can you imagine what could be going to your injectors if you used a less than quality filter. You may have to sample each place you fuel to get to the bottom of this.
