Why would you want to hide/lose fuel receipts?.............Hmmm. Would it be so they would be lost along with the loose leaf log book pages that would be used in a safety audit? Now why would anybody want to do this? :biggrin_255:

    Les2 and Jfaulk99 Thank this.

I'll see your 8mpg and raise you 9mpg! I'll have the greatest fuel mileage increase "on paper" ever! Then I'll sell the magic device online to gullible truck drivers!! Now I need to come up with a design for said device!

Don't foget an IFTA audit that I went thru one last year when my fuel mileage went over 8 mpg and I will probably get another this year now that it is over 9 mpg. My filing service that does all my permitting and IFTA reports for me should have no problem and missing fuel receipts would stick out like a sore thumb because the fuel mileage would be all over the place compared to mine is consistent.

I buy all my fuel thru NASTC Fleet One program that is one of the best discount fuel programs out there for independents and lease O/Os. I recommend this program for anybody that is not already on with some big carrier program: http://www.nastc.com/v3/FuelManagement/QualityPlusNetworkP.php

Amazing how these guys are still missing the point! Tell me, do you log actual miles?

Because sometimes the loads you haul "off the record" make you far more money than being able to write off the fuel.

    That depends on 2 things.
    1.Are you a cop?
2.Which log book are you referring to?

How do you explain odometer readings to IFTA with no fuel receipts with radical fuel mileage swings without those receipts matching to the odometer readings?

Safety audits and log books pages is not the same as an IFTA audit where every mile on the odometer readings has to be explained with matching fuel reciepts.

With one truck it's way more difficult than it is with a small fleet.

I think it's the Air Tabs. I would do really well with them and then someone would remove them from my outfit and my MPG would tank until i replaced the Air Tabs. Seems like every time i lost them there was a Blue Freightliner around that had Air Tabs everywhere. Just looked odd to me,but i'm an old guy what do i know.

If you hide fuel receipts from IFTA, the odometer readings will show radical fuel mileage swings with what fuel receipts were used?

I don't hide fuel receipts but it isn't hard to raise an IFTA fuel mileage number. The more trucks the easier it is to fudge each one. Especially if your buying fuel delivered in bulk. Your not hiding 50 receipts, you can hide just one. Personally I don't care what my IFTA number is because I'm not trying to win a fuel mileage award or sell a fuel saving product. I think it was just under 6mpg with 5 trucks. I could easily raise it by driving slower and hand taping instead of pulling conestogas and buying tall sleeper trucks instead of daycabs. But then my income would be less because I would work longer hours and have heavier empty weights (fewer loads). So I could save fuel and work harder, or burn a little more and never break a sweat.
