    the only thing making me think it's not a bad fuel issue is that my brothers truck sat right next to mine all winter and he has no problems at all.

    The ultra low sulphur diesel does have a shelf life...sort of. It will grow bacteria, fungus, or whatever you want to call it in very short order. Even with constant operation of a vehicle the micro-organisms can start to develope. It all depends on heat, water, and a couple of other factors. To be safe I shock treat my tanks about every 2-3 months unless I see anything in my filters which I then treat.

    But in kwforage's case I would have to say it may be a combitnation of things. Old fuel (that probably isn't treated) and bad fuel lines. Many guys don't want to either admite it or believe that fuel lines swell and go bad.

    Looked it over good again today. I noticed as I primed it I could hear an air leak coming from the bottom of the water seperator, it doesn't leak fuel, but does have an air leak. Got a new seal on it's way. I am hoping fixing this will fix it. It also kind of seemd as if the fuel line coming out of the seperator had really small bubbles coming right through the line when I flexed it. I'll try fixing the seperator leak, and then throw a new hose on if that doesn't work

    Close to the lower front cover below the fuel injection pump is the transfer pump.Remove this large fuel suction line 15/16 wrench I think.Then get a short fuel line hook it back up to the transfer pump and drop the other end into a bucket of fuel. Pump up the hand primer pump till it gets hard and keep pumping it while someone starts it.If it runs good then you picking up air getting into filter area.Also check the return fuel line from the fuel pump to the fuel tank.Hose is a number 4 strato-flex hose line it can plug shut. If your hand primer pump wont get hard then your check valves inside are flipped over or leaking.

    Do not put ATF in the fuel tank. You either have an air line with a bad fitting or a hole in the line sucking air in the sys, thats why you'ree losing prime. Also you could have bad inj o-ring seals causing air in the sys.

    WWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHOOOOOO:biggrin_255::biggrin_255:

    FIXED IT!! Just went and worked on it a couple hours ago. It was the steel canister on the primary filter. There is a seal on the bottom that was sucking air in. I found the leak a few days ago and in the process of trying to bleed the air out I ended up stripping a bolt on the mount for the secondary filter. :biggrin_25516: So I order a new mount and new canister. ( I see the new canister is completly welded on the bottom, no seal) They came in today and I put them on along with another new filter. After lots of priming she started up and runs like a champ. I was starting to get worried that I was going to be dropping alot of cash on some injector work, but ended up fixing it for only about $150 ($100 of which was the filter base which I ruined out of stupidity)

    Thanks to everyone for all of the ideas.
