Sdps and common rail cummins throw spill valve codes for a faulty injectors. Should still get it on the laptop to see if a voltage code or just a not responding code come up. Cat injector or aftermarket?

The SDP injector is a Delphi E3 injector so same style as Mack and Volvo unit injectors. It has a four pin connector. Spill valve is same theory as the poppet valve in older Cat injectors were closing it starts injection and opening it ends injection. There is a second actuator that is piezoelectric that controls the nozzle opening pressure. Instead of being fixed opening and closing @ certain PSI, the opening can be varied to almost 20,000 PSI. Kinda like having compact common rail set up. Anyway, like @pushbroom stated dash faults are almost useless. Need to find someone with Cat ET to get the exact code.
pushbroom Thanks this. -
Last SDP injector we tried to get had a 1 month backorder. Ended up putting in a aftermarket one. Seemed to work ok. Had a customer install a set of aftermarket mxs injectors and the engine wouldn't turn over to complete the top set. Injector was seized solid. So much for quality reman

I heard people say an Acert can be rewired with a 6nz or similar ecm to help eliminate unnecessary sensors and lower compression piston packs to account for the actuator deletes.... anyone have any experience or knowledge? -

nicksdp08 Thanks this.

Compression is the least of your problems with the sdp .......
I wouldn’t worry about it unless your rebuilding it anyway....
