Yeh they introduced that engine in 2014 . And they are going solid for last 8 years .They Passed all emissions so i think its revolutionary if big companies learn from it . O/o will have less breakdowns and less complications . And it will be easy to fully de mandate;).

My favorite OTTO cycle diesel engine was designed in 1882.
It was not built yet for commercial applications in trucking.
I love to see it taken upon by a major truck builder.
Because it has a promising future in trucking
And here it is: Behold the Holly Grail of future truck engines.

I think it's harder for heavy duty trucks due to the amount of heat they generate. The hotter the temperature is in the cylinder, the more NOx that gets produced. It's easier to keep the temperatures down on small engines and vehicles that don't have a big load on them, like buses, which is where they are trying to implement this technology.

I think DPF systems were another knee jerk decision to fix a problem that wasn’t the problem. The problem isn’t the emissions in clean trucks, it’s the guy running with a few bad injectors or a boost leak running down the highway billowing nasty grey & black crap out. Those are the guys that need to be taken off the road ASAP.
