I have a cat. It's a big Maincoon (19 pounds of cat + 3 pounds of fur) and has been riding with me for several years. My cat is fine with walking on a leash and I will take it out when I stop at a place with some open area not loaded with dog ####.

My cat likes being in the truck but really hates being in a car. Not sure why.

serioulsy, when we got a cat, it was going to be a house cat. got it nuetered, and went and got a small dog harness, and we walked that cat.......yup, and a few weeks ago, i was at the local walmart, and some guy was parked (i guess while HIS wife shopped) and his cat was outside....on a harness..>!!!

when you know that you have to stop and get out for whatever reason, if you have a carrier, put the cat in there, then get out.

if you want to let your cat out (with you) for a quick walk, make sure he/she is in that harness..!!

Out here in Texas we can't let our kitties out like at all. One of my neighbors lost his cat to an Owl. He let it out and the Owl swooped right now in front of him and just snatched it. Gone in an instant.

My parents lost about 3 kitties to coyotes. The hardest loss was a Siamese kitty. A very emotional cat. Had several owners and she was a bit confused and she meowed/cried a lot. Very sad. I went to my parents house to babysit for them while my parents went on vacation and the Siamese kitty couldn't handle another change in owners. I opened the door to go outside and smoke a cigar and she RAN. It was very sad. It was late at night and I could hear the coyotes howling and making their hunting yelps. She had beautiful bright blue eyes and a black face.
