The 430 c15s are anemic 475s are decent. In general the acerts I've driven run best between 1250 and 1450. Higher tends to use oil. But up to 1800 it pulls Ok. I don't really care for them mated to a 10spd. Really needs a 13 or better.

I'm thinkin its a truck not a 4 wheeler. Trucks are what they are. They are designed to pull. The torque is more critical than horsepower. Were not racing. Were pulling although I do see drivers with automatics that hammer down every time they start out like a drag race. Thats probably why I hear about automatic trans being more costly to maintain.

We have a 6nz cat set at 550 and a C15 acert twin turbo also set at 550 and theres nothing around here that can out pull them cats from a stop or on a hill!! These are both pre emission cats mind you.. the 6NZ is in an 02 shaker and the C15 is in an 06 shaker. In every cat I've driven though, they are by far my favourite motor. Drove a 470 12.7 Series 60 in a binder for a few months and that motor was not a nice one by any means. 18 speed with 4.11 rears and I was changing holes every other minute on the highway!!

    I stepped on a CAT's tail once.

It seemed to accelerate just fine.

Don't you have something to do besides impersonate a mule? Nothing in this thread remotely implied driving like a fool till you convened your kangaroo court. You know, jump past the facts straight to a guilty verdict.

I'll explain why acceleration is important in a truck. I'll try to use smaller words for your benefit. Truck enters highway traffic. Truck moving very slowly with poor acceleration creates traffic hazard. 4 wheeler gets impatient and darts around truck. 4 wheeler causes accident. Truck driver gets cited. Trucking company gets sued.

Lol... I was trying to find a polite way of saying this. I kept coming back to being very rude.

But yes that is where I'm at. Not trying to race just at least get to 45 before merging. In many cases I can only get to 25-35. I wish they would let you pull a load with a truck as part of the test drive. That would tell ALL!!:biggrin_255:

I undestood what you were getting at. Real drivers understand that there's a time and place for usable on demand acceleration. Then there are those on the forum who's only contribution is to twist context and belittle.
