    Some people will also call them a deckplate, if you can't recah the trailer connections from the ground them you can stand on the catwalk to connect them.

    catwalk is the plate directly behind your cab or sleeper covering over the framrails giving you a safe place to stand while tarping aload or climbing upon a flatbed or front of a mulch trailer,or getting items like chains,binders,straps,tarps bungees off of your headache rack when using one and a flatbed trailer.
