Actually you could legally pick up that load. You would have to split log but if you don't know how to do it then I guess you shouldn't try.
-
I dont know if you are stuck with the company due to a schooling commitment or not, but if not what I would do is talk to the dispatcher's boss about the problem. I have done this in the past and still been ok with the company that it happened at. However I can understand that you could get screwed by doing that. I dont do anything illegal for any company for any reason, it is your butt on the line out there as a driver, not someone in the office who said to do it.
Good luck,

I asked an instructor about this once and he told me the way to handle it is to call safety and have a nice three way conversation with safety, you and dispatch, just to clear up any misunderstandings.
I have also heard that when you start getting that done to you, stop all communication on the phone and do everything on qualcomm. That way it gets recorded.
All I know is that if you 'fix it later' and you don't fix it right then who gets in trouble. Sounds like its common practice there. But I don't blame you for not wanting to do it. Its a good way to get in big fat trouble. -
You also might want to go into the Experienced Drivers room and ask this question there. They probably have some insight as well.

I would have thought that those communications become legal documents when necessary. -
Yup do this and watch your miles fall... This is how things are done in this Industry unfortunately.... You will be labeled (flagged) as a complainer.....
They directly control how much money you make..... -
Tell your dispatcher that you will only run legally and see what the loads are that you get. The miles drop away. You sit at docks and wait forever for reloads. The drivers that run illegal for the dispatcher get all of the good loads and detention pay.
