After clearly stating a swear word at a rather high volume followed by the word "it" I took the 19 ton bridge route.

The interesting thing about low weight roads, at least in Arkansas, many of them make an exception for log trucks or farm trucks. In other words, you aren’t going to fall through because it’s a low weight bridge or road, they just don’t want a lot of truck traffic on the road.

I knew a guy who once looped a chain around a no parking sign and pulled it down and imagine it may work on other non friendly signs

It is put in place in wealthy people areas or on scamming areas they get money from usI went through a bunch everywhere, usually in the evening you're good, but during morning to mid afternoon I would NOT try it, unless you looked good at it..
In CA on the mountain towards Reno, etc bypassing I-80(Not my idea) they have a state road that says for approx 60 miles across the mountain no trucks over 60 ft long, then the cops get you and you unhook and pay upwards of approx $1200 for the tow company's day cab to pull your trailer 60 miles across the mountain to an gas station... (Just a scam between CHP and Tow Company, and State!!
Good example of what is going on all over the USA, Europe, etc!!!Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Correct placement of signage is crucial to any enfraction of that nature. A- sign was placed at entrance or shortly before in plain site. B- Sign was placed after being committed ( now you don't have a turn around near or you need to back into the road you just turned from- good luck with that from a SAFTY point ) . decision time , A - We continue in hopes of a safe turn around place in the next few 100' and get out without problems? B- stop and get over best you can and call the local law and ask if they can send someone out to help you back up ? Don't forget in the meanwhile , you're #1 and horns are blowing to confirm this! My pick is B , much rather be stopped and asking for help in this situation ,than to go on and chance it , especially if unfamiliar area.

I've got a friend in Ga that cost CT $80.000 back in 2001.He'd been crossing an old bridge weekly going home for 13 year's then one Friday it collapsed.Bad timing on his part as it's a hot spot for log trucks but he got the blame.

I realize this thread is two years old but the comments about proper signage got me wondering what you guys would do if you came upon this sign with a 5 axle setup.
Another Canadian driver and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.
