The ones used by companies have large amounts of storage available on a server. This is because footage is being stored for an entire fleet.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Losing a job due to using a phone is not a problem. Losing your freedom after causing a serious accident is a problem. So, don't use your phone while driving under any circumstance.
Next time, a) find a company that doesn't have a camera on you, and b) keep the phone out of reach so you are not tempted.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
I have reported every time I think the camera might have caught something. If they are going to fire me for, me reporting it won't change that. These companies have too much money on the line to invest in expensive camera systems to not use them 100% of the time. i am a proactive person and have found that it's far better to get put in front of an issue. I can present my side and show that I am expecting responsibility before any negative thoughts begin forming in the safety officer's mind. I am going to give them as many reasons not to fire me as I can.tscottme and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

There is another important aspect.
The breach of trust.
When it's gone, it's gone.
You lie to them once, either directly or by omission.
Nobody will believe anymore.
Even when you tell the truth.
The suspicion will linger forever.Grumppy, REO6205, TankerYanker36 and 1 other person Thank this. -
I know that is how I would view it, if I were in a management position.Grumppy and Another Canadian driver Thank this.

That makes perfect sense.
There's no telling how far back in a trucks records they may store.Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
On a server? Looking at multiple TBs, so years worth of footage.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
