Most jurisdictions, the red light camera convictions are not tied to the MVR, ESPECIALLY if the driver is not identifiable. All they have is the vehicle license plate to go off of, so the violation is typically sent to the registered owner...who may not have been the one who actually committed the violation. There may be a fine, but no points and no adverse affect to the MVR.

There are even some jurisdictions where failure to pay is a civil matter between you and the private company charged with operating the cameras. If you don't pay, the worst they can do is send it to collections, ding your credit score, etc...but beyond that there is no penalty.

Some jurisdictions, however, the camera laws have more bite....so make sure if you get a ticket from one, you find out how much bite there is to that local jurisdiction's law and proceed from there.

In any case, it ain't worth worrying about until something shows up in your mailbox or you are contacted by your carrier.

I went through a red light in Cypress, Ca once. I was even driving about 5mph under the speed limit, but the light turned red too fast for me to stop safely. This intersection had the camera and it did flash. But we never got anything in the mail. Maybe they give some leniency to truckers??

Where I live it is a civil offense and an $85 fine, but no MVR ding. It may take a week or two before you get any notice in the mail and you will indeed get that notice.

we have one too, i went thru a few times and that bugger is tricky, it will go from green to red in a nano secs , i got caught on the yellow as my rear bumper went over the the other side crosswalk and sweat it out a few days , nothen, as long as you procede safely too the other side and not cause accident then contue too do so, i myself think they cause more accidents ,cause drivers see green light ,so okay next it flashed yelow then red , then that driver slam on brakes gets stopped and bam gets rearend, guess what now he gots a ticket anyway and mayby 2 , for not wearing a seatbelt , yes i just hate em for that reason, i'm getting better at now, i can time 6 cars , then i start flashing my brake light's, anthor trick on those camera's, the fire dept and police cars that are flashing lights, as they come thru they can flip it on you too, had it happen too me i had green light, seen em coming , but i was in the middel of intersection and they flipped it on me , i goosed it got too the other side and it flashed me, if i would got a ticket , ya that be in court on that one.:biggrin_25510:

In that case you probably will be seeing a ticket in the mail. It would have been better going through it in a CMV.
