There isn't garbage on the radio anymore.

Because everybody turned their radios off.

Nah, you'll always have the big mouths with their garbage talk, garbage radio noises and garbage overpowered transmitters. Some things just never change.

No, really, it's almost complete silence anymore. I haven't even heard "I ain't got no panties on" lately, and by lately I mean in a year and a half, at least.

I can put up with a little garbage for the occasional heads up on a traffic issue.

I ran up 169 with a grain wagon the other night. We chatted nonstop until he got on 400 west and went on his way. I can put up with a lot of garbage for the possibility of doing stuff like that.

Blaskowitz, tucker and mike5511 Thank this.

Over the years I've had plenty of good information from the CB. Seems like it gets less and less useful over the past 15 years I've had them.

One case in point, about 5 years ago when I was in charge of the local towing company, I was about 35 miles south of town when I heard two guys on ch 19 that obviously knew each other and passing in opposite directions. One warns to the the other there's a rollover up ahead at exit 60 (which was the area we towed for) . . . . Was probably 5 more minutes before the local PD called me to send the wrecker, which fortunately was on it's way already, since I knew the situation from the CB.

I know that's a one in a million chance but it happened then, and plenty of other times it helped out with useful information. We still use them in the scrap hauling business around the greater Boston area (the local shredder has it's own "super secret channel") and yes, there is still "RADIOMAN" trying to clog up the airwaves but most of us experienced drivers can still tune those guys out and get good information from time to time. Sad to say that those times are becoming fewer and fewer but they still occur and make it worthwhile to have the radio on. Even if I do turn the gain down around the city. Someone close by can still get through.

If you have a cb then splice a cigarette lighter plug on the end of it. You can take it in and out of the different trucks real easy. To get it to stay in play either tie it or use some wire or something.

I have to agree with many of the others here. All my trucks have 10 meter radios General Lee, General Grants, and Connex HP radios. They are like Master Card. We never leave home without them. I understand the ignorant cr-p that goes on in our society with the radio rambos, lot lizards, and other idiots on the airwaves. But, they do have their really good points. To me we use them for any number of reasons. This is a personnel opinion.
