CB is not dying. It is simply used a bit differently nowadays due to all the new electronic gadgets we enjoy.
There are, however, many times when nothing gets the message across more efficiently than radio transmission

We all have a job to do out here. To me, not having a cb on is like working with a group of people and not being able to hear them or talk to them. That big ole gator layin in the middle of your lane just over that next hill on that skinny Oklahoma 2-lane... that group of deer in the road a mile ahead of ya in the dark... I don't know any app that'll alert you of that stuff. And I'm not driving down the road fiddling with my phone anyway. That's as unsafe as it can be. I want my eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
The other night a truck smacked a deer. He was empty, locked up the brakes and jackknifed into the bar ditch. Trailer still in the road taking up the whole lane. It was just over the top of a hill on hwy 33 by Durham. I put my hazards on and parked on the side behind him. The radio was a valuable tool at 2 am in that situation.Blaskowitz, mike5511 and wore out Thank this. -
CB is a valuable tool when traveling across the country.. All the youngsters think the Internet/Cell phones is where communications starts and ends, that's because they think older technology is not relevant anymore. They'll learn the hard way, when you need those silly phones the most they don't work...

I had a great time when I drove from Vancouver to Halifax this summer. When I came on the air as a 4-wheeler, I was pretty much ignored; however, when I identified myself as an ex-OTR jocky, I had responses from coast to coast. I can assure all that old CB Radio is alive and doing well.

maybe for you over the road guys, but local construction it is mandatory. You need cb to communicate with all quarry operations. Scale house, loader operators and other haulers. It is mandatory.

Its a 50/50 shot trying to get a response on the big roads these days....untill theres a back up, then every 30 seconds you hear....whats going on with this back up going west bound?!? But then on the other hand, theres only a 50/50 shot that east bound spoke up and warned you about the back up 10 miles back.

What do you do when you find out your headed towards a traffic jam? Take the next exit and take break time? Take the next exit and look at alternate routes?
