Hey guys, got a small issue. The truck is a 2005 KW T600. My CB won't turn on, obviously because it has no power. I checked the in-line fuse and the fuse in the fuse block behind the clutch pedal. It's not blown. Any idea why the power posts on the top of the dashboard aren't putting out any power? I'm thinking of just getting a CB power cable that's run from the cigarette lighter port until I can figure out why the actual posts don't work anymore.
Last night the CB worked just fine. I unplugged it for about 30 minutes because I was cleaning the dashboard down, plugged it back in and nothing. I tried another CB I have in the truck with me, no dice.
Thanks in advance.

does it have a reset button? chk the fuse too
-
I checked both fuses. They're both good. I couldn't find anything that would resemble a reset button.

Get one of these at Harbor Freight.
flat top, Samuel Coyne and lester Thank this. -
But, DOT NOT use it to poke holes in wire insulation. Find a plug that you can probe without doing damage. You can get T pins any place that sells sewing supplies, they are good to slip through the backs of plugs without damaging the seals. Use it to test fuses, they don't always look blown when they blow, the only sure way to test them.Last edited: Apr 21, 2016
Samuel Coyne, 25(2)+2 and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
To Mr Coyne, did you check the fuses with a meter? I am not trying to be a jerk. The fuse may have a small break from vibration at its end under the metal connector. Please re-check the fuses for resistance.
.
.An alternative would be to take any battery with voltage and hold the flat end of the battery to one end of the fuse. Check for voltage from the positive end of the battery to the other end of the fuse. Just to be crystal clear the fuses are not the problem.northernhopper, Samuel Coyne and 25(2)+2 Thank this. -
I'm getting a multi-meter on Monday that I'll take in the truck with me and see if there is power at the posts on the dash. If there is no power, I'll check to see if the fuse is blown. Usually I can tell when they are, but like you guys said, it may have a very small break that my eyes can't see.
Thanks for all the replies. For the meantime, I just bought a CB power cord that plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet. That'll do the trick for now. -
Get a conduit tester. You now can test fuses-bulbs-wires-etc.
Samuel Coyne Thanks this. -
If I remember correctly from my two electrical classes in college, I should be able to test all of those things with a multi-meter as well.
But thank you, maybe I'll look into one! Sounds like a handy tool to keep in the truck. -
$25.00 @ Harbor Freight.
Perfect to keep in the side box
Samuel Coyne Thanks this.
