Cb jumping frequency and no sound

    My galaxy 88is constantly jumping freq(way out there freqs) and no sound. I am cb stupid but think I gotta a serious problem. The frquebcy meter is constantly changing and nothing is coming out. Its a 88. Thanks

    Mine's done that before. A good tech can fix it, at least the one I use can. On the other hand, radios that do this sell real cheap on the used market. Wanna sell it???

    I am willing to bet on this.Check for bad solder joints around the PLL.

    Solder the feet on the 10.24 MHZ crystal. Sound could be another solder joint problem. You probably run the radio in a location subject to much vibration.

    ...and when you solder, first clean off ALL old solder and re-solder all new in each spot you choose to repair.

    any reputable radio technician can fix your radio for little or nothing. it is a very common problem with the older galaxy radios. if you go through Tyler any time soon, take it to CB City. they will fix it right.

    Thanks everyone, I do run it with a lot of vibration.have a 387 and mounted external speaker to bracket.i think to much weight, which in turn vibration. Thanks

    any radio is going to get beat to death in a semi. that is just part of the job. the galaxy radios are just more prone to problems with the solder joints coming loose.
