Wow! Now I've got a nice little "to do" list. That is very helpful knowing where to find a higher amp 12v source without going direct to the battery box. Thanks.

I use an old, tuned up Galaxy 88 and just used the CB hole power source because it was convenient, and made for a clean install. I haven't even checked the SWR. I just plugged and played. It was good on the Volvo and except for the mount, everything looks about the same. No one complains about the quality of my broadcast, in fact I get compliments, so I figured it was pretty close.

I take it there shouldn't be a problem with the mirror mount being an adequate grounded plane? I have a special stud I used on Volvos that overcame their plastic crap and provided the GP I needed.

I'm gonna' work on that list ya'll gave me. I'm tired of being an alligator (all mouth, no ears).

GROUND LOOP ISOLATOR on the power side of your CB.
Can buy one at Radio Shack for a few dollars.

same thing happens to me. except i run a 5000 watt inverter, i have a mini fridge, microwave, tv, xbox 360, mac mini computer, vacuum and a home air conditioner mounted to the back of my cab.

i find when i use the microwave the noise really kicks in.. but other than that.. it's not bad. if you don't want to do anything... while your laptop is plugged in just turn down your RF gain to about half or until the noise gets down to a level you can tolerate. turn it back up when you are done charging your laptop.
