I usually ran with it on just enough so I could hear what was going on so if there were brake checks, etc I would know about them.chompi Thanks this. -
the cb radio makes them little fellers thank they big

I would rather just listen to satellite radio. I did try CB for a while but most of the stuff I heard would make me cringe it was so stupid.

Same here Lilbit! It is important especially in the winter. It's nice to know ahead of time when traffic is stopped around the corner and the roads are icy! Also nice to know what the conditions are like from the oncoming drivers. Helps to know if you should park it and wait it out or keep going. I rarely got on just to talk or listen to the crap. I would keep it turned down low and when I saw the little lights light up I would hit the volume to see what was going on. I tell you what though, there is nothing better and I mean nothing better then when there is a blizzard out and you are the first one to the truck stop with a good parking place. You get a nice big cup of coffee, open up the curtains, kick back, relax, and then you turn the CB on and listen and watch the "greatest show on earth"! Drivers hitting driver, getting stuck, talking crap, fighting for parking spots, man it's better than Springer! This was one of our favorite past times.
Besides all this, once you do get a radio you will see just how deaf you were. One time a bunch of us were trying to holler a guy who was dragging his landing gear down the interstate! New driver, no radio! Unfortunately for him the state trooper was able to communicate with him. AAAHHHH! The importance of a CB!
just lil me, panhandlepat and Lilbit Thank this. -
Chompi I hope they weren't a fuel hauler.

Thought I throw in another question. Have any truckers messed with HAM Radio?
I mean at least HAMs have to be licensed and there should be a civil communication with it.
My parents have messed with it but I never tested for the license myself. If I ever did decide to get more radio in my truck though I would consider opting for a HAM Radio. -
CB's are great when decent poeople are using it and not crowded full of garbage. Then again coomon sense and education in what you are doing should be far more usefull than someone trying to get you on the CB while your tearing #### up because you failed at doing your job correctly.
