Just like the above poster, I rarely turn on the CB. I only use it at shippers and recievers that require a CB.

Yes, but on a positive note the IRS will let you write off the CB as a business expense.

You could also get lucky like I did, and be given a CB by one of your shippers.

    Dave75 Thanks this.

Driving through Illinois, you'll see these signs for a pro-gun website which says, "Guns are neither good nor evil...", then it's followed up with, "how they're used depends on people". The CB is really the same way. Some people are just dimwits, and their actions on the CB reflects that. The levels and amount of childishness I hear on there bothers me in that these are people who are supposed to be professionals. But it is what it is. Unfortunately, if you run around with no CB or with your CB off, you're essentially moving about with one eye closed.

When so many of these big McMega haulers are paying .25 cpm....the word "professional" goes right out the window.

Yes. They can be had for free from fuel points, and CB shops usually have inexpensive used ones that are already "peaked and tweaked ".

I got my first one from ebay for $15 free shipping from an online CB shop. That puppy lasted about 2 years, but everyone said it got out loud and clear about 4-5 miles. It burned out eventually.

You know I find most of the cb crap seems to come from non-truckers or bored idiots at the day care errrrr truck stops.

I heard fella the other day for all the mother bleep, bleep God bleep 62 mph trucks need to. Get bleep, bleep, bleep out of his mother bleepin' way. If I am late getting to my bleepin' shipper I am in real deep bleep.. I want to tell him proper trip planning would have avoided that issue, he wouldnmt shut the bleep up long enough..

I have a cb, it's usually on and if folks are polite I will answer them. Had a right pleasent conversation with an o/o about who owned Central Ref. the other day.

Tried to tell a Covenent driver his taillights on his tractor were wired backward.. no answer - oh well..

What I find interesting is the sheer number of 'southern' drivers that own CBs.. FYI those of us who call the south home can tell you ain't really 'southern'...

Just as soon as I can I will have a 2m ham rig in my rig..

Ohh yes. I usually have cheesse available for all that CB whine I hear

i get a laugh off mine.If im not talkn **** and laughing my guts out its from other drivers! I have a nice radio setup with predator 10k antenna. Perfect swr reading at 1 with a Galaxy 99 thats peaked and tuned. Im always standing on top of everyone out there in radio land(walking the dogs) :) I also strongly agree that having a CB can keep you out of trouble and danger plus other fellow drivers give you directions and tell you where that sneaky DOT man is at!
