There are so many choices for a system setup that my head is about to explode. Go with LMR-240 or Belden 9913F with silver ends or just RG-58 from the truck stop CB shop. Then to pick the best antenna. Maybe a 10K or Mr. Coily or Wilson 2000/5000. Should it have a 9, 12, or ? inch shaft. It could be a fiberglass silverload or firestik or francis. Then where to mount the darn thing. Left side for a clear sight of passing trucks or the right side so the cab could be used for a groundplane.Just so you know I have a 2007 Pete 379 with a standup sleeper.

lmr-240 with a Wilson 2000. I personally don't like buying new whips all the time so went off the left side and said bahumbug to the right side stick. just my thoughts. no facts behind what I say.

AT CB RG-58 will work just fine .

However there is a wide choice of better coax Starting with RG-8X

You don't need LMR-400 or Belden 9913 in a mobile set-up. Go with mini 8x. As for the Wilson 2000/5000. The coil should be above the roof of the cab. So a longer shaft may be best. The 10k and Mr. Coily antennas to me are to pricey for someone to steal. Fiberglass antenna are ok. I would place Francis first. And the Wilson next. And the right cab, left cab placement of antenna. Just think about this one thing. How many times have you hit branches or come close on the right? How many times on the left? I'll bet it's a thousand times more on the right. Well antennas don't like to be hit. They Bend, They Break, They Fall Off,or They JUST Die after being hit one time to many!!! So why would anyone want to place a antenna on the right and risk killing it? Along with killing your radio. And YES, YOUR RADIO CAN DIE IF YOUR ANTENNA SYSTEM IS DAMAGED. You can damage antennas without seeing it. So I would say don't risk it. Run it on the left it's just safer.

I know the left/right side is a trade off of performance and antenna lifespan. As for the rg-58/rg-8x, and the better grades, if the rg-8x is $.75 ft. and the lmr-240 or equivalent is $1.50-2.00 ft and all I need is 12ft. I would spend the extra just to know that what I'm running is setup the best it could ever be. And the price of antennas for the coil-loads as far as I can tell a Wilson 2000/5000 will run about the same price as a 10k or Mr. coily trucker style. And again its worth the extra $$$ to have the best that I can run.

Unless your running 2,000 watts no one will ever know if your running RG-58 or LMR-400.... The RG-58 will melt at about 500 watts.
Going out and buying a 5,000 watt antenna again no one will know ....

The mid range stuff is more than good enough .....

Where in the World are you buying Coax and antennas at the prices that you state? RG-8x at $.75 a foot. I pay less that half for Belden rg-8x at $.35. Rg-58 cost 25 cent a foot. LMR-240 for $.63 a foot. And the King of the Hill LMR-400 at $.85 a foot. And How can you compare the Wilson 2000/5000 to the Mr. Coily & 10K antennas. In performance or price you can't. At the prices that you say you are paying. I don't think you know if you have a good setup or not. I've seen alot of Drivers get ripped off by CB Hack shops. Thinking that by paying Super high prices. That they have the best. Most don't! I think the same has happened to you at these prices. And I've heard all of the CB radio myths too! Such as a 50 watt Cobra 29 after peak, which is impossible. I own a Wilson 2000 and found that I can run a Fiberglass Skip Shooter and out do it. But I prefer a SP-3000 best (sold under many names). With it I get about 15-25 miles. And I Do Not Run Amps. And they only cost about $30. I may not know everything about CB, but enough. I've been in to CB since 1968 when I was first licensed. I can install tune, peak, repair them and more. I do know my money is better in my pocket then in theirs. So I don't just buy something because I heard it on the CB. Or a CB shop. Something that I don't need or use. Just because you spend more doesn't mean that you got thr best.

The numbers that I put where for example only! I have done my homework and I don't listen to every CB shop's BS. I know they can get their testbench to show whatever numbers they want to sell mods. and tunes. I know from looking up coax attenuation charts and calculators that it does make a difference on shielding and efficiency not just power handling. And for antenna prices 10k # $73.50 + s.h. from predator (sw doublecoil) and wilson for $50-$75 +s.h. or $69.99-99.99 in a truckstop. And I know they used to be great antennas until Barjan took over. Again all I want to do is setup the very best most efficient antenna/coax that I can to get the most out of my old, worn out Uniden PC66.

No one or your radio will ever be able to tell if you have RG-8x or LMR-240 at the lenth and power level that I'm sure you're running. You would have to run a few thousand watts for a noticeable change. Antennas can matter. And the Very Best Mobile Antenna is a 102" SS Whip. And they only cost $20. But is very awkward on a Big Truck.
