I don't think I've ever seen dual antennas on a long hood before. Of course back in the days when the truck body was metal, I can see where that would work really nice. Plenty of metal for a mobile RF ground or ground plane as it's commonly referred to. I assume his front antenna has the coax hooked to it, and the rear antenna was a dummy or acting as the reflector?
I've seen something similar back in the mid seventies as a teenager. A guy had a 1950 something vehicle that looked like the ambulance in the mash 4077 TV show. I guess it was a pre Chevy suburban, or something like that. Anyway he had two Antenna Specialist big momma's mounted on roof, one to the front and one to the back. He used a switch box to change the signal more to the front of his vehicle or more to the back. I was impressed with his setup even though I didn't understand how it really worked. Basically it reminds me of the Super Scanner antenna with its electronic beam switching capabilities. I owned one of those antennas till a storm took it down. I really liked it. Too bad they still don't Make them.

All it takes is a ground wire, and you can mount an antenna on anything you want. Simple electrical theory...

    and it seems too simplistic.

Can you enlighten me please. I know that there have been several guys asking for help because the cb antenna mounted on their pickup trucks tool box or light bar doesn't work. Even the ground wire didn't help. I'm sure the solution isn't simple electrical theory either, since we're talking about RF, not AC/DC.
