Just with my experience this far, being a diesel truck tech seeing all these trucks having cb radios I thought it wouldn’t be that hard but it has proven to be more of a challenge than meets the eye. I will be reading up on all that. Where to buy braided cable? Amazon?

This is a good place to start before attempting to tamper with adjusting an antenna.

Yup did all the coax cable continuity checks; all good.

OK, so I read the article about bonding, and skimmed through a couple others about common mode, etc.... So my plan is to "bond" the tool box to the bed, then bond the bed and cab to the frame / chassis and mount the antenna to the lid of the toolbox, unless there is a better way with my current antenna, mounting hardware; etc.

It won't be cheap or simple. -
Just a little FYI guys, using stranded wire to ground a system is alright to do, you don't see giant 2 inch bonding strips for stationary systems, I have coming into this room 6 ga stranded to a post outside the window and further grounding at the antenna.
So for the purpose of 'fixing' the problem, stranded wire will work for now until he gets some braided grounding straps to use, the issue isn't the amount of RF that it needs to handle but the indication of a fix and how to experiment with finding that fix.Slowmover1 Thanks this. -
yeah haven't found it yet
