If your referring to me, I know it's simple to set the swr and I don't have any other issues. I bought an 18" shaft and needed to get the swr reset. I don't have the swr meter tool, and I prefer someone with there high dollar meter to set it correctly on a dime. $20.00 is change for me and well worth it.

If you have not read my other post through out the CB section, here's my set up: Galaxy Pluto radio, with the RFX 75 install by Chris Holland. The RFX was install because the stock finals where shot. I had Ron Damron install the recieve upgrade and I could believe the difference and improvement not to mention the ground noise level drop considerably. I have the 18' length of premium coax in it. I had the Wilson 2000 antenna for ever and one of the originals I bought back around 25 years ago or so. I just replace the original short shaft to a 18" shaft and I gain some. And finally , I have the Ranger SRA 198 I bought roughly a year ago. I have 2 original Telex Turner 56 mics on the shelf now, the SRA 198, does better then the 56's for my radio.
With my set my set on a 379 cab, I have no ground issues. I get compliments all day long on how crystal clear it sounds and have talk easily 10 miles with no problem. I have been offered $$$$$, but I won't cut loose with it cause I know what It has and what's been done. I could hear other radios so far away that it blows my mind, and I'm not talking about skip. Skip is another deal, I'm in So. Cal and have heard Florida, and to the south, I can hear my compadres, all day long.

In your opinion, what would be better? A stock radio or one worked on by Kelly?

I'll be keeping several of my radios stock. But I suppose the hacked up one I came across is better now that Kelly restored it.

I have to correct myself now that I know the truth that that Magnum radio had a 350 watt amplifier on the bottom of it. That is overdriving that 8 transistor amplifier by 270 Watts. That is most likely why that radio blew up.
I was under the false impression it was just a magnum S9 without any amplifier on the bottom of it

how many times do I have to tell you mr.know it all the amp was not even on. the stinger dropped......the swrs went thru the roof. and popped the back mos-fet. . it's a straight 8 like I said get that thru your head it has no 2290s in it .. what's the recommended driver for a 8 pill it's a 2 pill a 2 pill by spec. does 200 watts rms. my magnum has 4 erf 7530 mosfets that do 80 watts total rms plus maybe 20 watts rms off the original 3 mosfets in it that's only a total of my radio doing 100 watts rms.... quite a bit less than a 2 pill.... this isn't worth talking to you about since we all saw the piece o junk 8 pill you blew up....lmao have a good day there mr.know it all. talk about a head head that definitely means you ... i dont appreciate being called a liar by the likes of you....
