I had to travel all over the country comparing people's work to each other to find Harddrive. I guess if you want something bad enough you'll figure out a way of getting it like I did.

Cell phones and Qallcoms are not 100% reliable. having a CB or getting a Ham licence and having a CB and Amateur radio on board will save your life one day. I have worked disasters where Ham radio was the only source of communications in the area. Cell phones were useless. It happens more than one may think.

I think the majority of drivers are mixed up in XM radio which gives information only after the police arrived on scene maybe

Waze, Google maps, Weather Bug etc... They truly are fantastic tools! But just a few weeks ago, I got caught with my pants down, without a CB in a rental truck. I was only 1/4 mile from road closure accident, I checked google 5mins prior and it showed green. For nearly 20 mins after the event it continued to show green before orange, 30 mins later it finally showed an accident. 45 mins it showed nothing more than a backup in dark red. At nearly 1 hour it cleared but never once showed the road closure.
My point being, a live update from the CB may have saved me that 1hr wait, and many of you need that time, while cell phone apps seem to have a 15 min lag time.
If the OP's story or none of the others below, won't convince you of it being a good safety tool, consider it a money maker for you cent/mile guys.Blaskowitz, rabbiporkchop and KD5AXG Thank this. -
I agree with you rabbiporkchop i heard harddrive on skip yesterday in florida, I believe he goes by 163 near the rio grande, but Im sure that was him and sure has a nice sounding station, clean, clear, real nice, I just dont go out west that much anymore but I may need to ship him a radio, not one of my current radios but a brand new one right out of the box.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Every radio that leaves his bench sounds exactly the same.
