3 months in now. I'm correct that SNI doesn't provide cb radios correct? They only "offer" factory set up, in this case 2011 cascadia. Since I'm company driver, obviously can't make changes. So if only were to invest in a cb, what would be required? Or is it just connect the cables? I know zip about cb radios. Other places I've worked had them installed. Also feel free to recommend a radio that does the trick.

You can change the antennas run new coax and buy whatever cb you want just don't do any permanent changes to the truck and when you get out of truck put factory antennas back on.

Just a basic cobra 29 will do for starters, they have been around forever and will get you across the median.

Cascadias cable to antenna suck. Cant hear cant get out. Several places sell a "bird perch" specific to this model. Straight bar that replaces a bolt in the mirror arm or pass door spot mirror above the door.

I opted for that and aftermarket cable and antenna.
One guy I know just replaced one side with aftermarket antenna and said he could hear and get out.

depending on model year the truck may have internal antenna setup.

There is a subforum about radio and electronics. Answers and help available there. Many questions you have ate likeky been askwd and answered.

Not set up for a big rig use but I have a cheap Radio Shack radio that is powered thru the cig lighter and mag base ant I use on the SUV for long trips & towing my car trailer. I can move it to anything with a cig lighter and flat metal for the ant to mount to.
For you and the ant I would look into something that bolts to the mirrors and can be removed when needed.

In my opinion they are far more of a distracting useless hindrance than helpful. 9 times out of 10 when you tune to a channel with anyone on it around you they'll be talking some nasty filth, or trying to bypass scales / speed traps.

However, when you come up on a stop on thd freeway, you can find out where It is, how to get around it and when its clearing. It IS an important tool.

Just get yourself a cobra 29. They can be had at a reasonable price, and they're reliable. Spend a few bucks for good coax, and good antenna. The cb airwaves are much more polluted than they use to be, but cb's are still useful. Nothing like knowing there is a delay ahead, and having enough time to reroute and avoid it.
