Your best bet for starter radio would be a Cobra 29.
They do a good job out of the box and are built well.
They will last for years and later on you can get a good tune put on it for better output.
Be sure to get a quality antenna like a Wilson. Have any CB shop set the SWR on the antenna and good to go.
I noticed Amazon has some good deals on Wilson Antennas and Radios.....much less than truck stop prices.

this thread will probably get moved to the electronics section. having said that, your question is so vague, you wont get any one set answer. the one will be what you can fit into your budget until you learn about them and see what one suits you the best.

With a good antenna she should get out for about 130 bucks on Amazon.
That 29 LX 40 is sharp for the price too.. -
Another vote for the Cobra 29, and get good antenna and get it tuned.
CJ5 Susan Thanks this. -
I'm running a cobra 29 I picked up in a pawn shop for $50. Works pretty good.

ok this what i paid for mine cobra 29 chrome with diffiernt lights on the panel and the panel looks like a old 57 chev dash panel or close mine was from pilot brand new on sale $138.98 knocked of $30.00 for rebate, pilot took anthor $20 off for sale came down too like $104.00 then i bought some white wilson pro 2000 truckers too match my white truck had my cb guy install and tuned too the radio all said en done for antennas $175. 89 but now i'm second guessing myself why i bought a nice setup, been out here a month and hardly nobody talks on it and when they do i cant understand them so gibberish sounding so im taking my radio back too cb shop and see if i need a external speaker cause on a Volvo it sits flat on the dash and mayby that's my problem , it's a nice setup and when someone talks it would be nice too hear em , but with cell phones the ole cb is pretty much dead anyway

Got mine in parking lot of T/S from driver who cashed in his driver points, new in box $50. i bought it for a friend, but when i called he was just leaving with new radio he just bought. So after couple months i had it tuned and turned up, put my astatic mic on, and put it in the truck after a dream that someone stole my General Lee. i had it in for a month, then put the General back in for a month, then back to the 29 ever since.... i like it better

Got me a Cobra 25 LTD from a local radio shop for $80. Looks nice, solid construction and no unnecessary features.

I just need to know about traffic up ahead, coops, etc, and use it at shippers and receivers. I.don't #### chat and keep my b.s. filter on high so it serves my purpose.Everett Thanks this.
