Would like to get my useless new Cobra 29 wx nw st fixed up . Never has worked worth a crap . Sent it in to Cobra who said it had loose connections . Still does not work very well . tossed it on a shelf and put in a 70 dollar radio shack special that beats that Cobra hands down . So thinking of spending a lot of money having it tuned up and bumped up in power . Only knew of one guy around here and he is gone now I think .

I can only think of a few guys scattered around the country that can make your radio work better than it did from the factory and unfortunately none of them are located anywhere near you

Don't believe what you read on most forums. It's better to believe a multi-million dollar company With $100,000 worth of test equipment on the assembly line as opposed to trusting a redneck working out of a shack park next to a truck stop with a dosimeter that only cost him $20. Most of those radios are perfectly fine right out of the box and if you take it to anybody in Tulsa Oklahoma I guarantee it will not work as well after they get done tweaking on it as it did right out of the box. I've been there and I've done that.

Well it does not work worth a crap . I sent it in once but still bad . they said it had loose solder connections . That tells me someone was doing sloppy work on it so no telling how far off the frequency is . I also read several complaints about the stock mic that comes with it . that may also be part of the problem . maybe I will buy a good mic and try it again . It never picked up or sent out very good . Really my 70 buck radio shack special is way better than the 29 I have .
wow this jsut reminded me of where I bought it . Radio shack in Derby . that RS has a guy that has a shop in there that fixes radios . forgot about him . I remember now that I asked him about it and he was very busy and could not take on any new jobs . Might try again .

You might want to check if Radio Shack is still open. If I remember correctly RS in Derby is a franchise store so it might not got hit with RS bankruptcy and sale.

It definitely comes in handy having a spare microphone or two for testing purposes before you go out and spend your hard earned money.

I wish I had pictures of the waveforms of every radio I had tuned in Oklahoma as well as pictures of the waveform after I had them tuned correctly along with the names addresses and phone numbers of each one of those technicians in Oklahoma that I made the mistake of patronizing years ago

mic is a big thing . I was at the cement plant in KC and I could hear them but they could not hear me and it was their mic that went bad . Must have caused some electrical problem I guess.
