You drivers that are posting about radios in the Swift trucks:

What you do with them when you are not in truck? I understand that Swift will allow you to put 'em in so long as you are not cutting up the harness or dash.

But what do you do if you have a few days off? Are you pulling the radios out? Lot of work, but it seems that it is a risk that they assign the truck while you are out of it.

Second, who is the one putting them in? Driver or shop? Thanks!

Hmm I leave mine in the truck. That truck better not be assigned while I am on home time. I did not sign up for this. The minute they do this is the time when I go work somewhere else.

usually you take the truck home with you or park it in a safe place close to your home.

They have quick power connects, no cutting needed. Just takes 10 seconds to pop cb and gps I have out. Don't leave electronic stuff in truck it will get stolen eventually no matter where you work. Made mistake and being lazy once I left a galaxy 99 in my old knight truck on time off at a yard and widow was busted out and they took that $400.00 cb.

This is if you have a Volvo. In the Freightshakers, a little different if your cb is overhead, and also if the previous driver left the set up alone.

As far as the shop installing, I was told in the Cols terminal, no, they do not install CB.

Sumner was willing to install a CB for you, but I always did it myself. However, get a Gear Keeper for the mic; no sense taking your eyes of the road to hang it back on a hook.

XM- (great investment by the way) I had a small unit that plugged into the aux jack. I set the tuner on the dash with sticky velcro. The antenna mounted on the mirror. No aux jack on stereo? Buy an FM repeater from Radio Shack, $10-$15.

The aux input also worked with my portable DVD player or laptop. Made the movies sound great.

The times they loaned my truck, no one took my electronics. I did find the xm set to a jazz station once, and another time someone blew a speaker but that was the worst of it.:biggrin_25525:

Still all he has to do is simply unplug the cb power cord from the rear and loosen the strap that goes around the cb, and it pops right out.

Get the bungee cord setup so it has some slack and just tighten the hook around the mic kingpin, I never remove the mic from the strap, but just move it close to me when I need to talk.
