Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere already... but anyone know why CBSA is asking for a Phone Number and Email Address of everyone crossing back into Canada? I asked them several times and they claimed to 'not know the details', other than it being a 'pilot project'. Is it just to send out relevant pandemic notifications?

Was going to post this yesterday.
It's a "pilot project" in conjunction with Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).
As usual, the morons in charge don't think it through. I'm in complete agreement with the driver from the article. I've received countless spam calls and emails and so any that come from any government agency get ignored.Last edited: Jul 5, 2020
roshea and Phenomenal Thank this. -
I was asked the other day in Queenston Ontario, caught me by surprise and pretty sure I gave them the wrong phone number, they did not ask for email
Phenomenal Thanks this. -
They did it for a few days a few weeks back at Emerson. Stopped it after a few days.
Phenomenal Thanks this. -
I asked a senior officer I know about this. The idea was for contact tracing. If you test positive, they can backtrack where you got the load from, and try to figure out who you came into contact with. That’s all.
Phenomenal, tinytim, Canadianhauler21 and 1 other person Thank this. -

I just tell them I don’t use email. And I give the office ph number for company I run for. No way I’m giving that info out.
